Collector disassembly and copper repair
Many contractors recommend replacing a glazed collector whenever its internal copper tubing fails. When the collector’s construction and overall condition allow, Sundial can carefully disassemble it, access the damaged copper, braze the repair using an oxy-acetylene torch and an appropriate silver-bearing brazing alloy, reassemble it and test the work as appropriate.
Repair is not right for every collector. Extensive corrosion, widespread damage, deteriorated components, unavailable parts or an uneconomical repair may make replacement the better recommendation.
Finding the cause of poor hot-water performance
Inconsistent hot water does not identify one failed part. Sundial evaluates the collector, circulation pump, controller and temperature sensors alongside the tank and backup heating. That system-wide diagnosis helps distinguish a circulation or control problem from a tank that needs replacement.
